Associate Professor Applied Mathematics

Dr. Farkhanda Afzal is a distinguished educator and founder of STEM WomenPK. She earned her PhD in Applied Mathematics from Beihang University, Beijing, China.

Dr. Afzal’s academic career includes faculty positions at esteemed institutions such as Beihang University, Bahria University, KRL College, and the University of Education Lahore. Currently, she serves as an Associate Professor at the Military College of Signals, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad, Pakistan.A recipient of the AlumNode Project funding in 2021, Dr. Afzal is dedicated to promoting STEM education. Dr. Afzal’s research expertise encompasses Pure and Applied Mathematics, with a focus on interdisciplinary applications.

Dr Deeba Afzal

Associate Professor Mathematics

Dr. Deeba Afzal is working as associate professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, The University of Lahore, Lahore, Pakistan. She is post doctorate from University of Kaiserslautern and awarded by DAAD fellowship in this duration. She completed her Ph.D. in 2014 from Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences, Government College University Lahore Pakistan. She has been awarded by HEC indigenous scholarship during her PhD studies. Dr. Deeba is currently working in singularity theory, commutative algebra, fuzzy algebra and graph theory. She has been awarded as AlumNode project funding 2021.

Deborah Dorma Kanubala

Lecturer Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

Deborah .D. Kanubala is an NLP Engineer at Proto and also a lecturer in Data Science and AI at the Academic City University. She is also the co-organizer for the WiMLDS Accra-Ghana chapter and the co-founder of WPSYG. Ms. Kanubala is a recipient of several grants and scholarships including the Mastercard Foundation Scholar grant, Alumnode Project grant, and many more. She was voted among the 100 Most Influential People ( STEM Category) in 2019. Her research interest is in the applications of machine learning algorithms in the
development of robust credit scoring models and in developing machine learning models that are devoid of any form of bias. 

Dr Ayesha Maqbool

Associate Professor Computer Science

Dr. Ayesha Maqbool is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at NUST, Pakistan. She holds a Ph.D. in Automatic Control and System Engineering from The University of Sheffield, where she focused on agent-based mission planning for multiple unmanned autonomous vehicles.
Her research expertise lies in developing sophisticated smart distributed systems, with a focus on stochastic models, Blockchain, distributed planning, rule-based expert systems, and neural networks. Currently, she is exploring sustainability-related projects in disaster mitigation, green solutions, and leveraging technology to combat corruption.

Dr Alina Mirza

Associate Professor Electrical

Dr. Alina Mirza is an accompolished researcher in digital signal processing, focusing on adaptive noise reduction and communication systems. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from NUST. Passionate about addressing gender inequality, she contributes to international projects empowering women in Robotics and AI. Her work bridges impactful research and advocacy, with numerous publications in prestigious journals and conferences.

Dr Shazia Bashir

Associate Professor Physics

Dr. Shazia Bashir has a PhD in Applied Mathematics with specialization in microfluidics from the University of Sheffield. She is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Applied Mathematics, Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS). She has independently developed microsystem laboratory in PIEAS where she undertakes research in multidisciplinary areas. Her work also involves collaborations with HEIs including NUST, IIUI, Air University, COMSATS and Peshawar University.

Dr Minhas Mahsud

Dr. Minhas Mahsud

Dr. Minhas Mahsud earned her doctorate degree from School of Economics and Management, Beihang University, Beijing, China. She is currently working at a leading public sector research and development organization in Pakistan. She is also a visiting faculty member at the top ranked National University of Science and Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan. Her areas of interest are Organizational Behaviour, Consumer Behaviour and Human Resource Management

Zill Shams

Zill e Shams

Zill e Shams earned a BS(Hons) degree in mathematics at CASPAM Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan and a M.phil degree in Mathematics from same institute. She is pursuing a doctoral degree at Bahauddin Zakariya University and doing her doctoral research at University of Exeter, UK. She is a full faculty member at Department of Mathematics, The Women University, Multan and an active member of National Mathematical Society of Pakistan. She is a dedicated researcher. Her major concern is the women education in mathematics and its applications in Pakistan. She organized many successful events on international level to highlight the need of mathematics in technology and sustainable energy in Pakistan.

Dorcas Attuabea Addo

Dorcas Attuabea Addo is currently a PhD student at the department of Mathematics, KNUST and recently took an appointment as assistant lecturer at University of Education, Winneba. She also has a YouTube channel called “The Maths Classroom”, which provides mathematics tutorials from the basic level to tertiary.
She is a recipient of several grants and scholarships such as the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship for Advanced Scholars,
Empowering Female Minds in STEM, and part of the team that won the AlumNode Project grant in 2019, and many more.
She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from KNUST, and an MSc Mathematical Science from AIMS-Ghana. Her research interest is in Quantum Computing: Variational Quantum Algorithm.
She is passionate about quality education, the avenue for diverse, inclusive and equitable quality education. She is a STEM advocate and passionate about promoting STEM education among females

Dr Sadaf Rubab

Dr. Saddaf Rubab is an Assistant Professor in the College of Computing and Informatics at the University of Sharjah. She holds a PhD from the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, and a Master’s in Computer Software Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan. 

Before joining the University of Sharjah, Dr. Rubab held academic positions at various institutions, including the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, and the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan. She has published numerous research articles in reputable journals and conferences, contributing significantly to advancements in artificial intelligence and network security. She has authored more than 45 publications in international peer-reviewed impact factor journals/conferences and has supervised 13 MS students. Additionally, she has secured funding for numerous projects, serving as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator. She leads the AI-Assisted Network Threat Management System project, funded by the Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) at the University of Sharjah.

Dr. Rubab is committed to fostering innovation and excellence in her field, mentoring students, and collaborating with peers to address contemporary challenges in computing and informatics.
